God's hands

"a dried honeycomb, an empty hornets nest."

Getting film developed always makes my heart flutter.
but sometimes, rarely, it also makes me sad.
I do, i think, take photographs partly to try to stop time - save moments like I saved shells and driftwood in my treasure boxes when i was little. makes my knees weak when i think that I've lost them all and I have left is the photograph.

two posts on the kinfolk journal about wonderful Charleston places
we were lucky enough to visit on our little trip.

weather

happy weekend.

if march is about any one thing it is weather. changing weather and surprise weather. every morning, in Savannah, this is the window i push the top half of my body out of - reaching to see if i can tell the weather for the day.

i stay there for a while sometimes, watching the street and waking up.

across the river

this week, at a party downtown -(there were red lights and men in ties and low couches and cheese and chocolate)- she and i slipped out and climbed up to the roof:
caught the sun in time to say goodnight.
we sometimes forget, but then we remembered,
how much we love this city of ours.

sale

/we held a fundraiser this weekend to raise money for a friend of hilary's in Cambodia named Beav.

/Beav's mom suffered a severe head injury and is in the hospital in Vietnam awaiting expensive surgery. Hilary rushed around last week pulling together a garage/bake sale.

/So many of our friends donated clothes, lent tables, baked cupcakes and lemon loaf and bread and dropped off cheques. it was so amazing to see people's eagerness to help and to see hearts stirred for someone they had never even met. it was wonderful to get to be a part of something so much bigger than ourselves.
